Bifurcation

Aug. 4th, 2011 04:51 am
Title: Bifurcation
Genre/Pairing: XMFC/Wanted fusion, Charles/Erik
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: ~9,500 (WHAT.)
Warnings: Spoilers for both movies.
Disclaimer: I own nothing, as usual.
Summary: The first thing Erik notices about Charles, after he’s gotten over the shock of there being someone, anyone who is in any way like Erik himself, is that metal hums around him.

A/N: FUCK YOU, X-MEN. FUCK YOU. I HAVE OTHER, WAY MORE IMPORTANT SHIT TO DO THAN THIS NONSENSE. How is it that I can churn out almost 10k in less than a week on this, and yet cannot get any of the work that I owe people done on time. I hate myself.

Anyway, this is is my contribution to the Wanted crossover subgenre, and is drawn from a couple of prompts, primarily this one from [livejournal.com profile] 1stclass_kink : "Charles has a killer in his head and he's not afraid to use him. Wesley doesn't mind letting Charles take the reigns in between the fun parts as long as he gets some action so it all works out. Cue BAMF!Charles/Wesley action!" and also this one from [livejournal.com profile] xmen_firstkink : "Charles has terrible insomnia. When he's "asleep"? He's Wesley Gibson (McAvoy from Wanted). Basically, we're talking Charles with Fight Club-style fugue states, and when he's not Charles, he's Wesley, complete with bullet bending, time slowing and rapid healing. And assassinating!"

Title: On the Wings of War
Author: Alchemy Alice
Genre and/or Pairing: AU Apocafic, Dean/Castiel
Word Count: ~82,000
Rating: R for language, violence
Spoilers: Up to approximately 5.14, and then things diverge…dramatically.
Warnings: Copious gore, transformation, blasphemously inaccurate appropriation of Revelations and Lovecraftian horrors, oh my! I like my Apocalypse like I like my coffee—dark, and filtered with the blood of my enemies.

The four Horsemen are not just people with fancy rings. They aren’t even demons with fancy rings. They are another species entirely, a force unto themselves, and Lucifer is kidding himself if he thinks that they are at his beck and call. They are separate. They are neutral. Dean Winchester is not built like them.

A/N: Holy shit, it's finally finished. And I am terrified that this last little bit is anticlimactic and weird. I tried? Ack. Thanks to everyone who stuck with it, and I hope this doesn't disappoint.

Epilogue )
Dammit, why can't I write the things I'm actually supposed to be writing? This might be totally out of character and silly. But my brain wouldn't let me do anything else until I finished it. So there you are. I suppose I did say that I wanted to write something fluffy after the sheer angst of 'Intervention', but still. STOP TAKING OVER MY BRAIN, X-MEN, I NEED TO FINISH MY THESIS CHAPTER.

Anyway.

Title: Duct Tape Makes You Smart
Genre/Pairing: Burn Notice!AU, Charles/Erik, background Alex/Hank
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: ~4,800
Warnings: Spoiler free!
Disclaimer: Neither Burn Notice nor X-Men: First Class belong to me, which is a damn shame. I am merely playing in someone else's sandbox.
Summary: For a prompt at [livejournal.com profile] 1stclass_kink : X-Men via Burn Notice. "My name is Charles Xavier. I used to be a spy..."

Guns make you stupid. Duct tape makes you smart. )
Title: Intervention
Genre/Pairing: ANGST. Erik/Charles.
Rating: PG
Word Count: ~5,000
Warnings: Spoilers for X-Men: First Class.
Disclaimer: Nothing here belongs to me, I am merely playing in someone else’s sandbox.
Summary: Written for [livejournal.com profile] 1stclass_kinkEmma knows Erik has a thing for Charles. She can't read Charles but she saw how much Charles cares for Erik. After the falling out and when Emma notices Erik is pining (she's an intuitive woman, helmet or no), she sends Charles a message -- "Fix him. We can't take over the world if he's so lovesick." Then she gets Azazel to teleport Erik and Charles to an island so they can make up and make out.  ...except then it ended up a lot less funny than that. Basically, this is my post-divorce catharsis fic, because their love is so star-crossed and epic and sadface that I had to fix it, if only partially/not at all. Yeah. Life ruiners, indeed. *facepalm*
Intervention )
On the flip side, I just need to turn everyone's attention for one moment to Texts from Xavier Academy.

I think I'm actually crying from laughing so hard.

Sample:

...anyway. I'ma go work on my thesis now.
Title: Anatomy of a Mid-life Crisis
Author: Alchemy Alice
Genre/Pairing: Banter-y goodness! Ariadne/Eames, very background Arthur/Cobb
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 4,500
Warnings: No spoilers, very mild gore. Very slight tie-in to my other story Retrieval, but you don’t need to have read that for this to make sense.
Disclaimer: Nothing here belongs to me, I am merely playing in someone else’s sandbox.
Summary: Ariadne knew, in theory, that at one point in her life she hadn’t had to deal with strange men barging into her life and messing around with it, but now she honestly couldn’t remember what that had been like, or when it had been the case. It was slightly pathetic, and more than slightly irritating.

AN: For [livejournal.com profile] cunning_croft, who won my auction at [livejournal.com profile] help_japan. I hope you enjoy this!

FYI

May. 15th, 2011 11:06 pm
I am alive! But my thesis is draining my life force like no other. It is frankly exhausting, and I totally do not feel smart enough to finish this project. Who knew that doctorate research would be so damned difficult? Grargharhgargh.

So to those awesome people who are waiting on their stories for [livejournal.com profile] help_japan, I assure you I am working on them. I am part of the way through one story, and have concept work done on the other. And for those waiting on 'On the Wings of War', I will post the penultimate chapter forthwith. It just needs some editing. And then I need to write the epilogue and then it will be done. Holy shit. Finally.

And lastly, I have a sudden burning desire to write an Aeon Flux AU for GenKill. Brad as Aeon, Nate as Trevor Goodchilde. Yes, I am aware that I am completely insane. Don't mind me. If it happens, it happens, but I may be full of lies. Lies and deceit. Because I definitely do not have time to write for pleasure right now.

Alice out.

HOLY SHIT.

Apr. 22nd, 2011 08:34 pm
Someone made a trailer for Dies Irae. Holy shit.

WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME ABOUT THIS. WHAT. I CAN'T EVEN.

I'm utterly speechless. This thing is beautiful. Thank you, afaviva, you have made my entire week. It is just fantastic and epic and amazing and I love it to pieces.

You can watch the video here. Go and leave some love, because I don't have a YouTube account to do it. It's ridiculously perfect and I am so, so flattered that it exists. Sometimes, the internet yields wondrous things, and this is definitely one of those times.

A/N:
Apologies again for the monstrous delays--my degree is currently taking up a great deal of my time. Also, I've been debating whether or not to post this before finishing the chapter that follows it, because there is a really annoying cliff-hanger at the end of this one, and given my highly unfortunate track record for updating, it could be another long while before I post next. So be warned, I suppose.

Chapter Twenty-Six )
Unless lj, during its period of semi-instability, has made an error, then someone has given me some paid account time. If this is the case, then thank you to whoever gifted it! I don't know what I've done to deserve it, but thank you.

...Unless I did that myself in a drunken haze and don't remember. If so, I need to start hiding my credit cards before laying into the booze. But I don't think I'm at that level of terrible yet. So yes, thank you anonymous, you are very kind :D
Well, it has been a monstrous few weeks, for a number of reasons that I don't really feel like explaining in detail. Basically it was busy, research was good but tiring, and then bureaucracy exploded in my face and my entire week has been occupied with cleaning up the mess.

But anyway! The fics for Japan are still up for grabs; I'm writing them for the top two bidders now, in case that adds some extra incentive. And I will try to write them in a timely manner, despite the madness that is my life!

In other news, Generation Kill has entirely consumed my fandom brain. I won't write for it, because I don't think I could, but I have devoured everything that is already around, and have come to the conclusion that the fandom actually subverts Sturgeon's Law. It is astounding.

Anyway, that's all I've got. If I have to fill out any more paperwork for the next month, I will actually kill something. Or just crawl into a bottle of scotch and just stay there until it all goes away.
Right, I'm throwing my hat in as well. I couldn't not, really. The sheer scale of what's happening is just devastating.

I'm offering 1000 words or more for [livejournal.com profile] help_japan, which can be bid for at this thread.

Happy bidding, guys.

ETA: You are all amazing. I'm throwing in another fic for the second place bidder :D
