Oooh, that's really interesting--the idea of an unlearning cycle for the journey. I agree, it seems like something that's surely been done, but I don't know of an example either. For some reason, the first thing it put me in mind of was agriculture/animal husbandry--unlearning the modern practices and priorities. I don't even remotely have the background needed to do THAT justice, but yeah. This idea will be churning around in my head for a while.
